In the sweet by and by when I lay my burdens down, I long to meet my Savior first of all. For I’ll fly away when they ring those golden bells, and I won’t have to cross Jordan alone. It will be worth it all beyond the sunset where heaven’s joy awaits in Beulah Land. Meet me there when we all get to heaven where the roses never fade and we’ll never grow old. For the King is coming and this world is not my home.

In the sweet by and by when I lay my burdens down, I long to meet my Savior first of all.

I’ll meet you in the morning just over in the glory land when the roll is called up yonder. Look for me at Jesus’ feet just inside the eastern gate. What a day that will be when we see Christ and hear well done, my child! He the pearly gates will open, and we shall gather at the river in Immanuel’s Land to tell the story saved by grace.

Yes, I’m going to that happy jubilee when all my life’s labors and trials are o’er. On that golden daybreak I’ll be face to face with Christ my Savior when I get home to be forever with the Lord. For there is a happy land and we want you over there when this passing world is done.

How beautiful heaven must be where there’s no more night in that unclouded day! On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand just trying to get a glimpse of what’s over on the other side. For I have a mansion over the hilltop in Jerusalem the golden where I shall wear a crown in those ivory palaces when I can read my title clear.

I’m looking for a city where I know that my redeemer liveth, for we shall behold him when Christ returneth on the crowning day. Will the circle be unbroken when the saints go marching in? I’ll be there for I’m going home by the way of the cross.

Sing to me of heaven for there’s just a little while to wait and He is coming again. Soon and very soon I’ll reach the home beyond the river where I’ll have a new life when they call my name. Will Jesus find us watching at the midnight cry? It may be today, but until then I have victory in Jesus and it is well with my soul for I’m saved through Jesus’ blood.
