Throughout this year the Lord has shown
The wonders of His loving care
In all the ways He’s worked for us
And all the ways He’s answered prayer.
It seems so often that He worked
Just as it seemed impossible –
To try our faith since He well knew
His plan would be unstoppable.
So many scores of things displayed
His Father’s heart of grace and love
Which sent a thousand little things
To point our thoughts to home above.
The troubles seemed a crushing load
Until we gave them each to Him,
He carried all the weight Himself
And gave to us a midnight hymn.
The joys were bright, a gift of love
Sent to rejoice us in the way,
To show us what we will enjoy
In that bright land of perfect day.
Lord, thank you for the closing year
That showed the truth of all You’ve said.
Help us rejoice in all You’ve done
And live for You each day ahead.
