Thank You for Your Love

My God, I come in humble awe
And thank You for Your love
So vast, so deep, so wonderful
It lifts my heart above.

That God Himself would come to earth
Rejected, tested, poor,
Then take my sin with all its shame
To open heaven’s door.

That Jesus Christ would bear my guilt
And wear it on the tree –
Unjustly lifted up to die
To show His love for me.

That on the cross as darkness fell
And heaven turned away,
He gave Himself to pay my debt
To wash my sins away.

That three days on He broke the chains
That bound me to the grave –
He rose again to live and reign,
To pardon, rescue, save.

That when I was an enemy
He set His love on me
And sent His Spirit in my heart
To make these blind eyes see.

That when I came with nothing good
To offer at His throne,
He welcomed me with matchless grace
To take me as His own.

That though I sin and often fall
He loves me just the same
And lets me have a special part
To magnify His Name.

That when I’m weak and feeling low,
He proves His love indeed
With comfort, strength, and tender care
To meet my every need.

That in a world so marred by sin
He sends such pure delight
With blessings, gifts, provisions, too,
To bring me joy and light.

That someday soon He’ll take me home
To realms of endless love
Where He’s prepared a perfect place
To dwell with me above.

That endless years will never dull
The perfect joy we’ll share,
The oneness of eternal love
To which He’s made me heir.

Oh, what a love I see displayed
In all Your gracious ways!
Lord, help me love You more, I pray,
And lift eternal praise.
