Strength Sufficient
You’ve promised strength through Jesus Christ
To do the work You give
Sufficient for the task at hand
However long I live.
And when I’m weak I often ask
That You would make me strong
Expecting that I’ll feel prepared
For all that comes along.
But then, perhaps, I’d soon forget
Your strength is holding me;
My foolish heart would turn away
And sink within life’s sea.
So in Your grace You sometimes choose
To only let me feel
The strength I need for one more step
To keep me near and real.
It’s always there – the strength that raised
My Savior from the dead;
Each moment’s need is fully met
Just as Your Word has said.
So when I feel I can’t go on
And wonder if You’ve heard,
I’ll know Your strength will see me through
And trust Your faithful Word.

“And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13
Christina – as always, a fine piece of prose with Biblical foundations! It reminds me of the 3rd verse of Ray Palmer’s hymn, “My Faith Looks Up to Thee” – ‘While life’s dark maze I tread, and griefs around me spread, be Thou my guide; Bid darkness turn to day, wipe sorrow’s tears away, nor let me ever stray from Thee aside.’ May the Spirit of the Living God continue to stir your heart to write prose for His glory and our benefit.
“My Faith Looks Up to Thee” is a beautiful hymn. So thankful that our strong Shepherd is with us even in the valleys. May the Lord bless you this week. Thank you!

Thank you! I’m glad it was a special blessing to you! May the Lord strengthen and bless you this week.
Perfect words for me today. Thank you for your faithfulness to encourage others by sharing, Christina! It’s remarkable to put scripture side by side– from John 15 I can do nothing without Jesus and Philippians “I can do all things through Christ”.
Thank you, Barb! I’m glad it was perfect for you today. I love how you put those thoughts from John 15 and Philippians 4 together. That might turn into a poem! May the Lord bless you today.
