Only for a While
The wicked sometimes prosper,
But only for a while –
Swift judgment is awaiting
Their final, careless mile.
The godly sometimes suffer,
But only for a while –
The Lord Himself is waiting
To turn it to a smile.
So do not be discouraged
When things seem upside down,
Though patient, God is working
And soon you’ll wear a crown.

WOW Christina what an encouraging poem! I am not a person that gets discouraged easy, but Satan likes to reverse that whenever he can.
I love the last two stanzas where it reminds me that God can and does re-encourage me during those times. I think I am going to copy your poem and put it on my prayer closet wall, in my bible, and I am already thinking of people to send it to that would be encouraged by these words.
Thanks Christina,
God has given you a precious gift
Christina – another short but sweet gem of prose! This one reminds me of Psalm 73 (which I’ve been studying) where Asaph expresses how he almost became envious of the wicked until he went into God’s presence in the Sanctuary and realized that the end of the wicked was destruction, not endless prosperity.
