O Lord, how long till You return
To call us home to stay,
Where life is no more vanity
But bright unending day?

O Lord, how long till sounds the trump
That signals Your return,
When on the clouds You will descend
So all can see and learn?

O Lord, how long till You destroy
The lingering strength of death,
And turn to immortality
The bodies of this breath?

O Lord, how long till You appear
To catch away Your bride
Who waits for You impatiently
Till she is at Your side?

O Lord, how long till You fold up
This earth of time and space,
Unfurl eternity and play
The final chord of grace?

O Lord, how long till You avenge
Your people’s sufferings,
To right all wrongs, and show the world
That You are King of kings?

O Lord, how long until the day
When we may see Your face
To worship You with perfect hearts
In that pure, perfect place?
