Through the Valley
Through the Valley
You’ve led me through the valley,
Across the wilderness,
I saw Your tender mercy
And felt Your faithfulness.
You took me through the furnace,
Across the raging sea,
And all the way Your goodness
Was holding onto me.
The flame, though hot, can’t burn me,
The floods can’t overflow,
For, Lord, You’re right beside me
In every place we go.
Until I reach that harbor
Where troubles never come,
I’ll find in You my shelter,
My comfort, help, and home.

When My Soul Is Thirsty
When My Soul Is Thirsty
Lord, when my soul is thirsty
I come to You and find
Your Word is like a fountain
Refreshing heart and mind.
Like water in the desert
It gives me hope and cheer,
Reviving and restoring
With truth so sweet and clear.
Revealing thoughts and motives
It cleanses me from sin
To make me pure and holy
So Christ can dwell within.
Through daily meditation
Your Word renews my soul
With comfort, joy, and healing
That make my spirit whole.
It makes me strong and fruitful
And brings me such delight;
I’ll daily seek the Scriptures
To live them day and night.

Help Me See the Gospel
Help Me See the Gospel
Lord, help me see the gospel
So clearly I can love
The Savior who redeemed me
And waits for me above.
Lord, help me see the gospel
So clearly I can win
The lost who need Your mercy
To save them from their sin.
Lord, help me see the gospel
So clearly I can tell
The wonders of salvation
To those who love you well.
Lord, help me see the gospel
So clearly I can rest
Through storms of life in Jesus
And learn to pass each test.
Lord, help me see the gospel
So clearly I can raise
A song of glad of thanksgiving
With joy and fervent praise.

Do You Pray as if It Matters?
Do You Pray as if It Matters?
Do you pray as if it matters?
Do you pray as if God hears?
Do you trust it makes a difference
Now and in the coming years?
Do you ask for what you’re wanting?
Do you ask for what you need?
Do you trust God always hears you
When you come and humbly plead?
Do you tell Him what you’re thinking?
Do you tell Him like He cares?
Do you trust He wants to guide you
While your load He gladly bears?
Do you run to Him in trouble?
Do you run to Him with praise?
Do you trust His changeless promise
He’ll be near through all your days?

As This Year Is Starting
As This Year Is Starting
Lord, as this year is starting
I give myself to You
To honor Christ my Savior
In all I say and do.
I’ll trust Your kind provision
For all the things You’ve planned;
I’ll look for how You’re working
And watch Your guiding hand.
I’ll follow where you’re leading
Because You know the way,
And even in the valley
My heart won’t doubt or stray.
I’ll keep your good commandments
And guard my heart and soul
To please my Lord and Savior
And yield to His control.
I’ll turn from sin and evil,
Confess when I’ve been wrong,
And build up godly habits
Through Christ who makes me strong.
I’ll daily search the Scriptures
And talk with You in prayer;
I’ll seek to know You better
And give You every care.
I’ll show Your love to others
And bear the gospel light
Of life and free salvation
For heaven’s just in sight.
I’ll love my Christian brothers
And sisters day by day
In fellowship and service
To bless them on their way.
I’ll help the weak and weary
And lift the ones who fall
Like Jesus whose compassion
Reached down to save us all.
I’ll keep my eye on heaven
That place where I belong
Where treasures last forever
And nothing dims the song.
I’ll praise Your Name with gladness
And thank You for Your love;
I’ll tell about Your glory
Until I’m home above.
Lord, fill me with Your Spirit,
And help me walk with You
In holy love and service
As Jesus Christ would do.

Eternal God
Eternal God
Eternal God, the Lord of time,
To You we give our days
That all we do may honor You
And bring You lasting praise.
Redeeming God, Salvation’s Door,
To You we bring our souls
That grace might shine and show Your worth
While heaven’s glory rolls.
Providing God, our Father kind,
To You we lift our needs
That You might show Your tender love
And work Your mighty deeds.
Creator God whose hand sustains,
For You we live and die
That by our lives Your Name alone
Might be exalted high.

Lord, Thank You
Lord, Thank You
Lord, when I try to thank You
For all You’ve done for me,
There’s so much I could mention
And more I cannot see.
You made the world around me
So beautiful and bright,
To show Your love and power
And echo heaven’s light.
You send such loving blessings
To show me day by day
How well You know and love me
And guide me all the way.
You give me home and loved ones
Where I can feel Your love
With friends and church that show me
What life must be above.
You speak to me through Scriptures
So I can walk with You
To light my path and teach me
The things I ought to do.
You came to be my Savior
And wash my sins away;
You died and rose to save me,
And hear me when I pray.
You call me to a purpose –
To walk with You below,
To testify of Jesus
And share the love I know.
You tell me of the glory
That waits on heaven’s shore
Where soon I’ll see my Savior
And live forevermore.
I think of all these blessings
With thousands more beside –
Your favor and Your presence,
The way that You provide.
Lord, thank You for Your mercy
And pardon full and free,
For words to praise and bless You
For all You’ve done for me!

Please Tame My Tongue
Please Tame My Tongue
The tongue is such a mighty force
With strength beyond its size
To wound or heal, to help or hurt,
To spread the truth or lies.
You’ve said no mortal can control
Or tame their tongue alone,
So, Lord, I need Your help and strength
To guide its words and tone.
Please set a careful watch to guard
My words and what I say,
And help me keep my lips from sin
To honor You, I pray.
Work deep within to change my heart
That all I think and say
Might well reflect Your truth and grace
And please You day by day.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:21
“Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.” James 3:5-8
“Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.” Psalm 141:3
“If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.” James 1:26
“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” Luke 6:45
“Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Colossians 6:4

The One Who Turned Away
The One Who Turned Away
Lord, were those meetings wasted,
Those times I spent in prayer,
The earnest preparation,
The love and help and care?
She seemed so close to heaven,
And though I fail, I know,
I really tried to love her
And show the way to go.
But still she wasn’t willing
To leave the path of sin
So she could follow Jesus
And feel His work within.
Oh, I can almost hear You,
“I too had many leave;
They would not turn toward heaven
And savingly believe.
“Your part is not to save them
But just to share the news
Of free and full salvation
Which some will still refuse.”
If Jesus Christ was willing
To teach a faithless throng
To win a few who trusted
I’ll serve my whole life long.
Lord, let Your Word I gave her
Re-echo in her mind
Until she turns to Jesus
Who heals the lost and blind.
Please let me meet this dear one
In heaven’s home above
And hear the glorious story
Of how she found Your love.
Christina Joy Hommes
“From that time many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that Thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.” John 6:66-69
“This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. … For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; … I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” 2 Timothy 1:15; 4:10a; 4:7-8

What I Know to Pray
What I Know to Pray
I tell the Lord “I love You”
So often as I pray,
And frequently “I trust You”
Is what I know to say.
I really, truly mean it –
Each time a little more;
I think I’ll still repeat them
That side of heaven’s door.
Such simple words for Jesus,
But ones He loves to hear;
And He can see I mean it
With heartfelt love sincere.
