Poems of Praise

These poems will help you praise the Lord with heartfelt joy and thanks. Whether your heart is overflowing with gratitude and you want a poem of praise to express your thoughts and feelings in words or you are wondering how to praise the Lord, you can find biblical inspiration and help.

The Bible teaches us that praising the Lord is beautiful and fitting for God’s people. In good times it increases our joy and helps us get closer to God, and in hard times it helps us lift our minds to God and away from the pressures of life so that we can find joy and strength to carry on.

For Blessings So Abundant

For Blessings So Abundant

For Blessings So Abundant

For grace that’s all sufficient
For mercy ever new
For love that’s everlasting
I lift my heart to You

For truth that never changes
For peace that reigns within
For guidance from Your Spirit
For pardon for my sin

For blessings so abundant
For sleep and daily bread
For promises enduring
For paths where I’ve been led

For giving me Your favor
For making me a place
For Jesus and salvation
For purpose in life’s race

For lasting joy and gladness
For all of this and more
For loving me, dear Father,
I praise You evermore

I Love You, Lord

I Love You, Lord

I Love You, Lord

Lord Jesus, You have loved me
As no one else could do –
You came and died to save me
And make me one with You.

You daily guide and help me,
You strengthen me with grace,
You send such loving blessings
That show Your smiling face.

Now I can’t help but love You
My Savior, Friend, and King;
I bring my heart’s devotion
And lift my voice to sing.

I’ll walk with You each moment
And live in such a way
The world can see Your glory
In all I do and say.

For You’re my dearest Treasure,
The One that I adore;
Until the day I see You
I’ll love You more and more.

Morning

Morning

Morning

The sun begins its daily sweep
Across the sky above
Revealing in its constancy
The nature of Your love

The birds awake and start to fill
The morning with Your praise
Revealing in their happy notes
The kindness of Your ways

The little creatures start their tasks
With busy, eager feet
Revealing in their lack of care
That trusting You is sweet

The morning comes with mercies new
To greet the brand new day
Revealing in its breaking dawn
You’re here with us today

Wonder of Wonders

Wonder of Wonders

Wonder of Wonders

Wonder of wonders our God becomes man,
So humble and lowly fulfilling God’s plan.
Despising the glory and leaving His place,
He comes to redeem us in marvelous grace.

Wonder of wonders He comes here to earth,
The son of a virgin, a peasant by birth.
He comes in a stable, a manger His bed,
By those He created is nurtured and fed.

Wonder of wonders the world turns away –
No place for the Savior to come or to stay.
But angels tell shepherds who hurry to see,
And wisemen bring presents and come bend the knee.

Wonder of wonders He learns and He grows;
Immortal now mortal, our weakness He knows.
Though tempted like others, He lives without sin;
Still perfectly righteous and holy within.

Wonder of wonders the King is the Lamb,
Our perfect atonement the mighty I Am.
Our sin on His shoulders He carries and cries,
“It’s finished!” Our Maker and Sacrifice dies.

Wonder of wonders He rises again –
The grave cannot hold Him and death cannot win.
It’s shackles are broken by Jesus the Lord
Who offers salvation that all can afford.

Wonder of wonders the God-man still wears
The form of a servant with scars that He bears;
Ascending to heaven He sits on His throne
Still worthy of worship to save and atone.

Wonder of wonders the Savior appears
In splendor and glory to honor and cheers.
Now crowned and triumphant He’s coming again
Exalted forever and ever. Amen.

He Bore It All

He Bore It All

He Bore It All

My Savior bore that cup of wrath
Poured out on Him alone,
With none to share the awful load
That no one else had known.

He bore God’s wrath against my sin
With all of my disgrace,
And died the death that I had earned
As justice purchased grace.

He bore the pain when, for my sake,
The Father turned away;
The separation I deserved
Was laid on Him that day.

He bore the cross, the crown of thorns,
The nails, the scorn, the shame
To please the Father and to give
An enemy His Name.

He bore it all, and now He stands
Exalted over all;
Soon every tongue will call Him Lord
As at His feet we fall.

The Fullness of God’s Blessings

The Fullness of God’s Blessings

The Fullness of God’s Blessings

Oh the fullness of His blessings
Oh the riches of His grace
Oh the glory of His power
Shown in Christ my Savior’s face

Oh the brightness of His favor
Oh the wisdom of His plan
Oh the price He paid to save me
God Himself becoming man

Oh the treasure of His Scriptures
Oh the depth of love divine
Oh the length and breadth of mercy
Making life and heaven mine

Oh to taste and see His goodness
Oh to know His thoughts towards me
Oh to better love and praise Him
Lifting up a heart set free

“O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” Psalms 34:8

“Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.” Psalms 68:19

The Lord Our God

The Lord Our God

The Lord Our God

The Lord our God is mighty –
Immortal King of kings
Whose glory fills the heavens
As all creation sings.

His strength toward us is gentle,
His tenderness is strong,
While holiness and mercy
To God the Lord belong.

He made us for His glory
To show His skill and love,
His wisdom and His kindness
Are shining from above.

There’s no one else beside Him,
And none can be compared,
For He alone is worthy
Whose glory can’t be shared.

He’s perfect and unchanging
Who reigns in radiant light,
The faithful One whose judgements
Are always pure and right.

His goodness lasts forever,
His mercy will endure,
His promise is unchanging,
His Word is true and sure.

Eternal praise and honor
Belong to God alone;
He asks for love and service –
Come bow before His throne.

Counting My Blessings

Counting My Blessings

Counting My Blessings

I stop to count my blessings
And every time I find
There’s more than I can number
Since God’s so good and kind.

Yet still I love to list them,
These blessings from above,
To praise my God and notice
The greatness of His love.

For breath and life You give me,
For daily food and care,
For timely rain and sunshine,
For mercies everywhere,

For friends and all my loved ones,
For cherished moments, too,
For church and Christian family,
For all I know of You,

For pardon and salvation,
For heaven’s promised rest,
For giving me the Bible –
How richly I’ve been blessed!

For recent gifts and past ones,
For hearing when I pray,
For showing me such kindness,
For loving me each day.

Lord, thank You for Your goodness
So constant, true, and strong –
I’ll praise Your Name forever
With glad and grateful song.

With Thankful Hearts

With Thankful Hearts

With Thankful Hearts

With thankful hearts we look above
And see You on Your throne,
We glorify Your mighty Name
And worship You alone.

With thankful hearts we’re looking back
At all the things You’ve done,
We stop to see Your mighty works
And praise them one by one.

With thankful hearts we look around
At blessings from above –
Provision, guidance, answered prayer –
That show Your constant love.

With thankful hearts we look ahead
With hope and trust in You
That what You’ve been You’ll always be
And as You’ve done You’ll do.

With thankful hearts we look to You
And lift our hands in praise
For all Your care and character
That guide and bless our days.

How Many Times?

How Many Times?

How Many Times?

How many times have you painted the sky?
How many times taught a bird how to fly?
How many times have you sculpted a wave?
How many times carved a canyon or cave?

How many snowflakes and clouds have you formed?
How many diamonds by pressure transformed?
How many roses and violets designed?
How many stars have you lit and aligned?

So many times yet the sunset tonight
Still brings you joy and Your people delight.
So many ways yet there’s still something new –
No one’s creative or faithful as You!
