Help Me Be a Burning Bush
Help Me Be a Burning Bush
Lord, help me be a burning bush
You’ve come to set aflame,
That by Your Holy Spirit’s pow’r
I’ll magnify Your Name.
Let those who know Your Name rejoice
And come away alight –
Renewed, stirred up, encouraged, loved,
Recharged to do what’s right.
Let those who’ve wandered stop and see
How far from You they roam,
Then as the prodigal come back
To hear Your “Welcome home!”
Let those who haven’t come to Christ
Be drawn to what they see,
For as your glory fills their soul
You’ll set their spirit free.
Lord, make my life a burning bush,
A place where You can shine,
To lift the Name of Jesus high
And show Your grace divine.

Until the Time That God Ordains
Until the Time That God Ordains
Death cannot have a man of God
However hard it tries
Before the time that God appoints
And then His servant dies
Let Pharaoh rise or Herod fear
The babe will live and grow
Let lions come and giants rise
They’ll fall before his blow
Let famine strike or sickness spread
God keeps him safely through
Let mobs cast stones or shipwrecks come
His strength is always new
Let storms arise and councils plot
He’s safe as he can be
Until the time that God ordains
To grant him victory

“Then they sought to take Him: but no man laid hands on Him, because His hour was not yet come.” John 7:30
By Ways I Have Not Known
By Ways I Have Not Known
By ways I have not known
Yet known to God in grace,
He leads me to His throne
Along this winding race.
I cannot see ahead
But trust His loving hand
And follow where I’m led
Before I understand.
He leads me by the way
Best suited to His end,
And though I often stray
Is still my faithful Friend.
For by His wisdom’s skill
He knows what’s right and best;
Delighting in His will
My heart finds joyful rest.
Without Him I am lost,
But He has bought my peace
And at the highest cost
Secured my soul’s release.
So I am glad to leave
My welfare to His love
Assured that I’ll receive
Rich recompense above.

“Shew me Thy ways, O LORD; teach me Thy paths. Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me: for Thou art the God of my salvation; on Thee do I wait all the day.” Psalms 25:4-5
“And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.” Isaiah 42:16
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
“For we walk by faith, not by sight:” 2 Corinthians 5:7
Doing What I Know
Doing What I Know
Lord, help me do the things I know
To live like Jesus would –
The things You teach me in Your Word
Are holy, right, and good.
I want to build my life each day
On solid rock, not sand,
So when life’s troubles come like storms
My faith will firmly stand.
Your Word reveals what I should change –
A mirror for my heart;
I’ll stop and fix the things I see
And do the work You start.
I won’t just hear the things You say,
I’ll live them day by day;
Please help me do the things I know,
And bless me, Lord, I pray.

Don’t Live in the Shadow of Yesterday’s Sin
Don’t live in the shadow
Of yesterday’s sin;
The Father forgave you
And cleansed you within.
Its failure can warn you
But must not prevent
Your willingly doing
The tasks you were sent.
Don’t let the old devil
Sneak in and deceive;
He whispers his folly
But do not believe.
His lies are to keep you
From knowing God’s grace,
So tell him to leave you
And show him his place.
You’ll sometimes be tempted
When consequence comes
To think you’re still guilty
As courage succumbs,
But God is your Father
And loves you too much
To let sin bring blessing
And seem like a crutch.
The day you confessed it
And turned from your sin,
God fully forgave you
And brought you back in.
Its under Christ’s blood now –
You’re free from its shame.
The guilt has been canceled;
No fear can remain.
So live in the freedom
That Jesus has bought
Who died to redeem you
And cleanse every spot.
You’re free to do right through
The Name of the Lord –
Rise up now to serve Him
And claim His reward.

What Fear Shows
What Fear Shows
When fear begins to fill my heart
It shows my faith is small,
For I’ve been trusting in myself
And not the Lord of all.
If I rely on what I know –
My instincts, skills, and sight –
I start to fear what I can’t see
And tremble in the night.
But if I trust my mighty God
I’ll never have to fear
Because I know He always sees
And stays forever near.
So when I feel the grip of fear,
It’s time to stop and pray,
To turn from self-reliant pride
And trust in God today.

Your Compass Rose
Your Compass Rose
Let Scripture be your compass rose
With Jesus your true north;
Keep pressing on through wind and rain
For God has called you forth.
By day and night it leads you right
In everything you face,
Inspired and true, unchanging, too,
A source of strength and grace.
No turning back, no veering off
The path that God has made;
Your compass rose will lead you home –
Be bold and unafraid.

Cleanse My Heart
Cleanse My Heart
Lord, purge the temple of my heart
From all that You despise,
From idols, greed, and selfish pride
That grieve your holy eyes.
As once you purged the temple courts
To cleanse Your house of prayer,
Please cleanse my heart so only You
Will be exalted there.
Cast out the sins I love, I pray,
The sins I do not see,
The sins I cannot seem to shake –
Come do Your work in me.
Drive out whatever takes Your place,
What isn’t pure and true;
Remove distractions and reveal
The things that sadden You.
Then fill my heart with love and peace
With righteousness and light,
And by Your Spirit’s work within
Make Scripture my delight.
Lord, in this temple of my heart
I’ll worship You alone
For You have died to set me free –
My heart will be Your throne.

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
My Heart Your Throne
My Heart Your Throne
Lord, make my heart a holy place
Devoted all to You,
And by Your Spirit’s strength and grace
My love and zeal renew.
Please help me think like You, I pray,
And make Your precepts clear;
Oh, help me walk with You each day
In humble love and fear.
Reveal Your ways and help me see
The wonders of Your hand;
Exalt Your Word and humble me
To seek and understand.
Lord, I will worship You alone
And praise Your worthy Name,
Please make my heart Your sacred throne
And set my love aflame.

Building on the Bedrock
Building on the Bedrock
I’m building on the bedrock
That’s sure and will not shift;
I’m anchored in securely
To what will never drift.
God’s Word is my foundation
That cannot pass away;
The Rock of my salvation
Is changeless day by day.
Though all the highest mountains
May crumble in the sea,
And though the mighty oceans
May rise and threaten me,
My soul is safe, protected
By One who cannot fail,
And all the hosts of darkness
Will nevermore prevail.
So though the world around me
May change or fall apart,
My life will stand securely –
God knows my name by heart.
My life is built on Jesus,
His Spirit’s strength I know,
And though life’s storms are raging
He’ll never let me go.
