Avoiding Dead-Ends
I’ve just one life for living
And want to make it count;
I can’t afford to waste it –
Success is paramount.
So when the Lord informs me
That something doesn’t pay,
And warns me of the dead-ends
Or things that make me stray,
I’ll be so very grateful
That He has saved me years
Of fruitless trial and error
As heaven’s portal nears.
His aren’t just vague restrictions
Or trivial restraints;
They shouldn’t lead to grumbling,
To sighing or complaints.
God’s rules and His restrictions
Are gifts that point me right
To help avoid the dead-ends
And walk within His light.
They help me live with purpose
And never waste a day –
I’ll gladly skip the pitfalls
And walk in heaven’s way.
