Would He See You?

Would He See You?

What if Christians each were buildings
In a valley dark as night,
And the Lord was on a hillside
Looking out for spots of light?

Would your temple shine so brightly
He could see from where He stood?
Are your windows clean and open
So your light is clear and good?

Yes, there’s been a blackout order –
Not from Christ, it’s from our foe.
Don’t be tricked by sly deception
Jesus wants your light to show!

Claim It All

Claim It All

I have a mighty Champion
Who pleads the rights He won
Not for Himself but for my sake
Because of all He’s done.

He fought to buy these privileges –
He gave His life to gain
A glorious, bright inheritance
Through sorrow, shame, and pain.

He will not let the honors fade
For which He gave His life
Or let me have a partial share
Of what He won through strife.

Only One God

Only One God

We do not need a different God
For every situation:
A god for rain, a god for health,
A god for soul salvation.

Our God is One, the Lord of all
In every realm of living,
And all the good we ever see
Is from His constant giving.

Whatever fear, whatever need,
Whatever help or blessing,
There’s just one God to seek and serve –
There’s no concern or guessing.

The Waiting Times

The Waiting Times

Unjustly in the dungeon’s depths,
Then hope flared bright and died
As “two full years” dripped slowly by
While Joseph stayed inside.

Impatient people checking in
To hear God’s final word;
A week, ten days of silence first
Ere Jeremiah heard.

For “three full weeks” old Daniel mourned
While good and evil warred
Until the angel sent arrived
With comfort from the Lord.

Too Good to Be True?

Too Good to Be True?

Too good to be true
Were people the pledge
Of such an amazing salvation,
But God is the One
The Scriptures allege
Who offers such wondrous redemption.

There’s nothing too hard
That God cannot do –
There’s nothing to do but believe it;
He cannot tell lies,
His promise is true –
There’s nothing to do but receive it.

The Purpose in Suffering

The Purpose in Suffering

God wouldn’t let this suffering
Go on another day
Without some purpose that He knows
Will come no other way.

He wouldn’t say to carry on
And keep me here in pain
If not for some far better thing,
Some beneficial gain.

His heart’s too kind, His love too deep
His tender care too good –
I know He’s seen some greater prize
I’ve not yet understood.
