Do you truly Love?

Do you truly love? M. Scott Peck from his book “The Road Less Traveled” gives an eye-opening definition of love which I find intriguing. He claims love is “the will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth.”

A wise teacher once stated, “True love is not so much a matter of romance as it is a matter of anxious concern for the well-being of one’s companion.” The Bible reminds us that “God is love,” and Gandhi teaches that “where there is love there is life.”

I see love as a choice to accept divine light into our lives and touch, serve, and inspire others with that light. When God-like love is extended to anyone there is healing, life-giving hope, strengthening, and the possibility of flourishing growth.

When viewing love in this context, how are you doing loving others and yourself?
