A Simple Choice

One quality successful people have is doing simple yet positive actions which lead toward their goals—and doing them consistently–day in, day out.

Jeff Olson in “The Slight Edge” contends that “ Everything that you need to transform your life is easy to do…every action you need to take to make any and all of your dreams come true is easy.”

So why are most of us unhealthy, unfulfilled and financially burdened?

Because, as Olson claims “every action that is easy to do is also easy not to do.”

Easy NOT to do? Yes, because in the present moment, not doing those small disciplines will make little difference. Choosing a donut over a salad won’t make much of a difference once, but over time, making similar choices again and again will lead to poor health.

Deciding to watch a mindless TV show instead of studying something inspiring won’t destroy your day. But making similar choices over and over again, will lead to a narrow, unfulfilled way of life.

Spending a couple hours video gaming most likely won’t damage family relationships, but done again and again at the expense of spending time with loved ones could ruin the relationships we cherish most.

Olson states: “That’s the choice you face every day, every hour: A simple positive action, repeated over time. A simple error in judgement repeated over time.”

Remember, both paths are made of simple steps which will create, over time, either a fulfilling, significant life or a life that is constricted and unrewarding.

Every day, every moment we are choosing what our future will hold—so choose well!
