Friend or Enemy?

One of my favorite authors, Marianne Williamson, wrote: “May we not succumb to thoughts of violence and revenge today, but rather to thoughts of mercy and compassion. We are to love our enemies that they might be returned to their right minds.”

Who is your enemy? Anyone with whom you have any kind of angst or feelings of discord. Often our biggest enemy is ourselves. Haven’t you at times felt angst and discord within?

Let us be kind to ourselves: compassionate and loving! As we begin to have faith in ourselves and truly show mercy and compassion to ourselves, it liberates us to change and become more than we were! Yes, allow the possibility for our enemies to “return to their right minds.” Let us also extend this offer of grace to ourselves too!

Christ has commissioned us to love our enemies and do good to them. If you have ever felt you are your own worst enemy it’s now time  to make friends with yourself.

How? Ask God to teach you how to begin to love and forgive yourself. He will tell you if you listen quietly, for He is the author of all hope, all change and all that is good. With Him at your side, you can begin the beautiful process of becoming your own best friend!
