Seeing with an Eye of Faith

How is your vision lately? Do you see with more than your mortal eyes? Boyd K. Packer states, “If all you know is what you see with your natural eyes and hear with your natural ears, then you will not know very much.”

Seeing with an eye of faith is the “live by faith, not by sight principle” taught in 2 Corinthians 5:7. Seeing with an eye of faith allows us to access knowledge and wisdom that is otherwise unavailable. Looking at things “which are not seen” open vistas of eternal realms! (2 Corinthians 4:18). On this higher level we see, hear and know things which are not discernible to our natural eyes, but which are true. It states in Romans 1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen…”

So how do we move into this dimension of seeing that which is invisible but is promised of God? It begins with getting our heart right with God, becoming pure in heart. Matthew 5:8 claims that the pure in heart will see God! When I have worked to become a more pure vessel through accepting and embracing the atonement of Christ I begin to see God in everything around me! This is done by giving Him my sins, my lack, my limiting beliefs and my limitations, aligning my will with His, and then allowing Him to change me.

In this Christ-changed dimension, life becomes sweeter and I experience a close communion with the heavens. Here I see God in the faces of the people who grace my life and God in the splendor of nature surrounding me. I feel whisperings of love from spirit beings and guidance and peace from the Holy Spirit. Here is wisdom beyond mortal understanding. Here is heaven-blessed vision and celestial hearing in abundance! Gratitude beyond words fills me for the gift of being able to see beyond physical sight and know and understand beyond my mortal abilities to comprehend! Thank you, Lord, for this incredible gift of seeing with an eye of faith!
